Let God direct your daily path, and you will save yourself a lot of heartache, wasted time, dead end roads, and wrong turns in your Christian life. God sees things from a very different perspective.
Lets see what the scriptures have to say about it.
Psalm 25: 4-5 – Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. 5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
God is only able to speak to us if we are listening. Let’s start with asking him to speak, and making sure we are showing we are listening by being obedient. Afterall, it is no use hearing truth if we are not going to respond to it.
Psalm 25:9 – He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.
We can close our ears to what God is saying if we are too proud to be teachable.
Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Psalm 143:8 – Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.
Certainly there is a large element of trust if we are going to let God guide us. Often times it is more of a struggle to stop putting our trust in the things of earth.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
We are often so self reliant that we forget how much better it is to let go of our inhibitions and trust God to work out His plan for our own good. If you are like me, then we get in our own way more then anything else.
Isaiah 58:11 – The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
But when we put our trust in the Lord for all things, big and small, we will be more full then we could ever be if we let the things of earth, or our own hearts, guide our ways.
I hope this has helped you in your walk with the Lord.
