Proper Perspective

February 9, 2019 by CJ Counts Leave a Comment

We do not know the day or the hour when it will happen, but one day, Jesus Christ is coming back again to take back the earth and gather those who belong to Him to be with Him forever in paradise. The Scriptures clearly tell us how we should live each day as we wait for His coming back.

Titus 2:12-13 – It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

I compare it to this. If a bride to be has saved her body for her husband, then that night of first physical union after marriage will have major significance on the quality of relationship. If the bride has shared her body outside of that marriage union, then the first time the married couple is together after marriage carries a lot less power. So it is with us and our God. If we live honorably as we wait to be united with Him, we will share in a depth of relationship that can not be compared to any other!

Philippians 3:20 – But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

We who have accepted God’s Grace with our Faith now belong to Him, and are co-heirs with Jesus, that will inherit glory and the Kingdom of God. Until the day of our full reconciliation with God, we must wait in enemy occupied territory.

Colossians 3: 4-5 – When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

For as much as God is giving us, and as much as it has cost Him, the least we can do is try to walk worthy.

1 John 3: 2-3 – Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

We do know a little about what it will be like when we cross over from this plane of existence, but what we know is just the tip of the iceberg. What we do know is enough to give us a hope, and that hope encourages us to respond.

1 John 2:28 – And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

We respond because we want to honor the one who has shared His glory with us. We also realize that there will come a day of accounting. While those who belong to God do not have to sit through a judgement that leads to condemnation, we will have to give an account for our lives all the same. On that day there will be no secrets, so we endeavor now to invest in that moment to be as shameless as possible.

John 14:1-3 – Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Lord, please come quickly!
