Satan is constantly trying to undermine your salvation by whispering blasphemies in your ear, getting you to doubt your faith. He will first plant doubts in your head, then he will try to convince you that these were your own thoughts.
Now I am not an advocate of the theology behind the phrase “once saved, always saved”, because I believe that even while you are saved, you do still have the free will choice to commit blasphemy and fall from grace. But your salvation is YOUR CHOICE. So it is important for the believer to remember that if you have a saving faith, you can feel absolutely secure in your salvation. Don’t let the enemy of your soul take that away from you.
Let’s look at the scriptures.
Ephesians 1:7 – In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
I like how this verse refers to the redemption coming from Gods riches, implying that God has enough to go around. Redemption, riches. These all speak to my debt being paid by a Lord who has more than enough to spend on me. To me, the debt would cost me my life, but to my Lord, he can pay it for me and it doesn’t even put a dent in his account.
1 Peter 1:5 – who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
We are shielded by the power of God, and how much more comforting can it get? This also reminds us that our hope is not only for a future of eternal life in paradise, but this full life begins when we trust in Christ and join Gods family.
Romans 8: 38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For all that Paul (the writer of these words) has said here, it can be summarized to say that NOTHING can separate us from God’s love. I imagine how excited Paul must have been as he dictated this letter, maybe pacing back and forth, waving his hands around as he speaks boldly, because of his enthusiasm and passion that the Holy Spirit has filled him with as he says that nothing can separate us from God’s love.
John 10: 27-29 – My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
So nobody can snatch us from the hand of God. Nobody can take your salvation from you, not your enemies on earth or from other another world. If we belong to God, He will be faithful to protect us from any who would have it another way.
1 John 5:13 – I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Quite simply put, if you believe that Jesus is who He says He is, than you WILL have eternal life.
